The 5000 Milestone: now this achievement may not seem big for many other truck OEM’s that have been in South Africa for many, many years and have a heritage extending back over a century, but for a relatively newcomer to the market with a humble staff compliment of 200 people, we are proud to announce that our 5000th truck rolled off our Pietermaritzburg assembly line on 28 May 2019. We celebrated this in the good old fashion way and even awarded each staff member with a branded beanie to celebrate this fine achievement.
The Powerstar brand has had some heavy challenges over the years, which started some 13 years ago with Super Group’s market infiltration in South Africa, that is to “flood” the market with a cheaper Chinese product in the hope that they would move volume and that the rest of the business requirements would follow suit. In 2010 this ailing division and company, Super Group Industrial Products, was bought over by 4 shareholders, one which is the OEM of Powerstar (Beiben) and another which is the main shareholder, namely Norinco Vehicle, who are very much focussed on this kind of venture. Ever Star Industries was borne in August 2010 and the company moved its status from a dealership under the banner of Super Group to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the Powerstar brand.
In the 9 years we have been in existence we have made great inroads in terms of assembly efficiencies, health, safety and environment as well as our build quality and we are a proudly ISO 9001:2015 certified assembly plant. Our supply of parts and stock holding are other fine achievements as are our sales volumes of these fine extra heavy and heavy duty trucks. The milestone (5000th truck assembled), is a big and prestigious achievement for Ever Star and one which we are sure our clients and business partners would equally find impressive.
