We interviewed Marc Mynhardt, Sales Manager at Handax Machinery, winning Powerstar dealership of the year – see all he has to say below:
How long has Handax Machinery been around in this industry?
“We opened our doors in October, 2020, but we were trading as a retail dealership under Everstar Industries previously.”
What is it about Powerstar vehicles that you like the most?
“The reliability in the construction and mining industry,” says Mynhardt. This is confirmed, according to Mynhardt through “the fact that we have proven ourselves in the industry and built a strong trade market on the resell of our trucks.”
What does it take, in your opinion, to make a dealership, a dealership of the year?
The only way Mynhardt sees it, is to “build a strong relationship with customers and to be persistent on all the sectors such as the after sales service, super quick quotation turnaround time, quick delivery turnaround time from date of order – all of this is very important.”
Furthermore, “always following up with the customer, but not too much to be an irritation, therefore keeping our customer close enough not to find a better service elsewhere.”
What is the company culture like at Handax Machinery?
“We have built a good sales team, as well as an important support team – from our admin and drivers, making our procedures hassle free most of the time.”
For Mynhardt, it boils down to team work and communication. “We all understand each other and are familiar with what needs to be done from each individual role. As a team, we try to streamline the whole process from date of order, to date of delivery, and thereafter, everything falls into place.”
What is Handax’s business motto as well as your personal motto?
“Simple moving, big saving,” says Mynhardt.
Mynhardt gives us the secret sauce of what the CEO at Handax Machinery always says, “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.”
What are the challenges and successes you face as a dealership?
“Our challenge is to always meet our customers needs as this market is very competitive. Turnaround time needs to be small and there is no room for errors.”
“Our success would be the dealership of the year which means we are meeting expectations.
