“I was honoured and privileged to have been invited to China last week, along with my colleague Lauren, to be party to, and receive a stunning award celebrating the 35th anniversary of Norinco Vehicle. In true Chinese tradition and hospitality, we were treated royally, and had the opportunity to view the much-hidden talents of our Chinese colleagues in Norinco Vehicle and its subsidiary companies.
The festivities began with much pomp and ceremony as we viewed company videos on a cinema size screen, real traditional dancing, and singing, and clothing, and the formalities were concluded with an awards ceremony, and me making a speech to most of the Chairman, past and present, for and on behalf of ESI. Lauren and I were the recipients of wonderful glass awards as well as awesome corporate gifts.
My time in China was a whirlwind two days with much to do, many operations to view, and a number of business meetings. Fortunately, it was Lauren’s first trip to China and she managed to get in a small amount of sightseeing. I love China, the food and the people who are very peace loving. The country works well with all systems operational and in place, and even with some 1.5 billion people, traffic is busy, but there is no road rage, and people are courteous of other drivers. The businesses I had the privilege of visiting in China like Cummins are literally cities on their own and they are extremely jacked for visitors, and make great use of technology to both manage, and showcase their business.
It was a proud moment for Lauren and I, and an even prouder realisation for both of us, that we are employed by Norinco Vehicle!”
